Research Interests
The Komor lab studies the chemical biology of DNA damage and repair. By illuminating the molecular details involved in DNA damage and repair we strive to significantly expand our knowledge of how damage to the genome drives various disease phenotypes. Specifically, the Komor lab applies chemical biology approaches and genome editing techniques to reveal molecular relationships between DNA damage and diseases such as cancer and aging. We strive to elucidate the underlying mechanisms that connect specific DNA lesions to mutations, cellular death, and cellular senescence.
