Science Policy Internship Program (SPIP)

A brief overview of the Science Policy Internship Program

In collaboration with the University of California center in Washington D.C. (UCDC), the National Science Foundation, and the American Chemical Society, the Science Policy Internship Program (SPIP) has been established. SPIP offers science, engineering, and mathematics students the chance to experience the role of scientists and engineers in national policymaking and government regulation.

How to Apply:

• Students must first be admitted to the UCDC program for an academic or summer quarter.
• All UC campuses are eligible. Contact your campus UCDC office for application details.
• UC San Diego students can contact the Academic Internship Program at ucdc@ucsd.edu or (858) 534-4355.

SPIP Details:

• Interested students admitted to UCDC can request their application materials be forwarded to Prof. Seth Cohen, UC San Diego, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
• Students in science, engineering, and mathematics, with a preference for chemical sciences, are considered.
• Fellowships are available to defray travel and housing costs during the UCDC quarter. Funding is provided by the National Science Foundation's Division of Chemistry.

Internship Opportunities:

• Internships are available in various government and non-government agencies.
